This is the first step in aggregating all my books here instead of maintaining more and more websites, just so each book can have their own. You Don't Want a Job will make the point that self-employment carries less risk and delivers more reward than having a job.
Here's my first draft of the opening paragraphs:
You don't need anyone to tell you the economy stinks. Everyone is just hanging on, hoping it gets better.
That's not how it works.
Picture this scene: walking along a mountain path, you slip—and go right over the edge. Your hired guide grabs your hand. Whew! Safety.
Then, he starts to slip.
Look into his eyes. Imagine it. This is no lifelong friend, no loved one. Your only relationship is money.
When he starts to slip, would you rather be hanging from his hand, or hanging onto something with your own?
Nicely put, Joel.
Now you need to write a book that helps all of us Scaredy Cats get off our duffs and Just Do It.
... Or maybe that will be this book!
Tom
Oh, yeah. This is that book.
Pre-orders February 1st, released February 29th.
AWESOME! I like help people come to understand that 'work' is not a 4-letter word - but 'job' is. Even those of us who have 'employee' status need to understand that we're all really embedded entrepreneurs - we need to make this mental shift ASAP.
Thanks Joel.
Yes indeedy. You're right, Beth.
Any chance you'd read a preview copy of the book when the rough manuscript is ready? Help me see that there are no huge gaps.
Love that line "WORK isn't a four-letter-word, but JOB is!" Beth!
Bright Blessings to you ~ Karen Johannessen
