Skunk Tree and Chilean Mesquite

From this spot, the name 'skunk tree' seemed bizarre; nothing looked very 'skunky' — 'til I got past it, down by the Chilean Mesquite in the background. Still no skunky looks, but downwind, there's no doubt at all that it's well named.

Just overhead, to the left, you can see the branches of the Blue Palo Verde I was standing under. In Spanish, 'Palo Verde' means 'Green Stick', so that makes this tree a green stick that's blue. Botanists; what are ya gonna do with 'em?
