A massive deposit of copper was the original reason for Jerome's existence. These days, entrepreneurs would say it's been 'repurposed' as an artist's haven and tourist spot. The shot above is one of the only skyline views available, facing directly south from the mine. Most other views have mountain peaks rising far above the town.
