Cliffs, Hillsides, and Trees

The trees don't seem to have any trouble with the dizzying heights. Some in the center of the narrow gorge seem to be competing with their brethren farther up the hillsides.

In more than one spot it was possible to pull off the road and go stand under a tree; the cliffs are undercut just slightly, leaving a mildly unnerving view from below of the underside of a fully grown tree 50 feet straight above you.
